Events List : May 2009

A. Our Culture Wing will be showing the following film/documentary shows in May 2009 (A small brief about the film is attached in the end):

I. “Om Shanti Om ” ( 超时空爱情 ) [May 21 – Thursday, 1600 hrs]

This 2007 film is about a love story centred in India’s Bollywood film industry. The film features India’s latest film stars and is a commercial success. This 2 hour 50 minute film has English sub-titles.

II. “India in Space” [May 25 – Monday, 1700 hrs ]

This is a 30 minute documentary (in English) about India’s achievements in space technology. The DVD captures the long and outstanding record of Indian scientists in this area.

Note: The films are being shown on non-commercial basis

B. Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) was India’s famous poet, author, playwright and an inspiring personality even today. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913 for his work “Gitanajali “ (Offerings of Songs). He is also widely known in China and world over.

We are organizing a commemorative event to mark Tagore’s 148 th birth anniversary (which fell on May 7) at the Culture Wing on May 26, 1630 hrs. The program will feature presentations by some of our Chinese friends as well as a short film ”A Journey to the East” (in English & Chinese) by Shri Bivash Mukherjee regarding Tagore’s association with China.
