THE LOSS OF LIVES IN CHINESE EARTHQUAKE

The President, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, has expressed her shock and grief over the loss of lives in Chinese earthquake on May 12, 2008.

 

In a condolence message addressed to H.E. Mr. Hu Jintao, President, People's Republic of China, Beijing, the President has said, "It was with a sense of great shock and dismay that I learnt of the devastation and destruction and the massive loss of lives, including of school children, caused by the earthquake which struck Sichuan Province on 12th May 2008. I join the people of India in offering heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the people of China at this tragic event. We are confident that the people of China will overcome this adversity with fortitude and courage. We are willing to make a contribution to your efforts to mitigate the sufferings of the friendly people of China".

 

 


 

Indian Prime Minister condoles loss of life

 in Chinese quake and offers assistance

The Prime Minister of India has expressed deep sorrow at the loss of lives and property caused by the earthquake in China that struck Sichuan province yesterday. In a letter to his Chinese counterpart Mr. Wen Jiabao, Dr. Manmohan Singh aid the people of India share in the grief of their brethren in China and expressed the confidence that the resilient people of China will overcome this grievous loss. The Prime Minister said India stands ready to offer any assistance that may be needed at this difficult time.

 

 

 


 

Indian External Affairs Minister condoles loss of life

in Chinese quake and conveys support

 

 

The Indian External Affairs Minister (EAM), Shri Pranab Mukherjee, has written to his counterpart, Mr. Yang Jiechi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, and has expressed his deep shock at the news of the devastating earthquake that has hit the Sichuan province of China.

 

EAM conveyed his heartfelt condolences over the tragedy and indicated India’s readiness to provide any assistance that China may require.
