For all categories of visas, applicants must be in possession of the Foreigner Resident Permit (Green Booklet issued by the Public Security Bureau) or Alien Employment Permit (issued by the Labor Department). The passport must have a validity of at least six months. The application form must be duly completed and signed by the applicant himself/herself. For business visas, visitors should submit a letter of invitation from the concerned Indian Company.
Short term visitors to China, or those not in possession or Resident Permit Cards, may also apply for visas to India if they have not, for any reason, been able to do so at an Indian Mission in the place of their normal residence. They need to pay an additional Yuan 100.00 towards telex/fax charges.
Issue of such visas will take a minimum of 4 to 5 working days.

Note: All foreigners including foreigners of Indian origin visiting India on long-term (more than 180 days) visas will be required to register themselves with the concerned Foreigner’s Regional Registration Office (FRRO) within 14 days of his/her arrival.
