India-China Partnership in Science & Technology –

Joint Call for Project Proposals

The India and China Joint Declaration of Nov 2006 (signed in New Delhi during Chinese President Hu Jintao’s visit to India) agreed to establish an India-China Partnership in Science & Technology as a cornerstone of bilateral efforts towards achieving sustainable socio-economic development. The two sides also agreed to launch joint projects in the areas of (i) earthquake engineering, (ii) climate change and weather forecasting, (iii) nano-technology with focus on advanced materials, and (iv) biotechnology and medicines with focus on bio-nano.

2. The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India and the Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST), People’s Republic of China are the designated nodal agencies to implement the above projects in the respective countries.

3. The two nodal agencies have issued a Joint Call for Project Proposals relating to the areas outlined above. The Call is open to scientists/ engineers engaged in advanced research in the above-mentioned areas in India and in China and working in a regular capacity in Government recognized Universities/ Deemed Universities, Academic Institutes and National Research Laboratories/ Institutes. The last date for the submission of the project proposals is Apr 30, 2009. The notices may be seen at the following links :
